New content class in eZ

Remarkably simple, remarkably useful.

To create a new content class using eZ, it is simplest to start with a copy of an existing class. In this case, creating a “Fishing Report” class from the “Article” class.

Go to Setup->Classes->Content-> Make a copy of the “Article” content class by clicking the copy icon. It saves as “Copy of Article”.

Select that new class, and make all edits on it.

Leave all existing in place - add:

  • a textline attribute titled body of water, short description - bow
  • a date attrribute to store the date fished, called Date Fished
  • a time attribute to store start time, called start time
  • a time attribute to store quit time, called quit time

The reporter goes to the folder for state and body of water, logs in, in the drop down selects “Fishing Report” fills in the information.

Editor goes to that new fishing report, puts it in desired location in the site structure and publishes it.

Voila.
